Quarantine Check-In 2

It’s been a long time!

Go kart riding with my Godsister. Summer can still be fun.

I hope everyone has been doing well these last few months. Thankfully my loved ones and I have been well. But I know that’s not the case for everyone. My heart goes out to all those who’ve lost someone during this perilous time.

It’s difficult to maintain a travel blog when travel is banned or restricted. Sure I could’ve talked about trips I’ve already taken, but I felt that content would be a little stale.

The first few months of quarantine were a little disappointing. Especially because I had to cancel my highly anticipated return trip to Spain. Like many, I was hopeful that quarantine wouldn’t last for long and I’d be back to traveling by the end of the year.

To be completely candid, I don’t feel comfortable traveling anywhere at this time. I see other travel enthusiasts going to resorts and such, and honestly I think they’re crazy. I don’t trust hotels. I don’t trust pubic transportation (Ubers, planes, trains, etc.). I don’t trust other people to practice proper hygiene and social distancing.

I guess I’m a bit on edge because in late March my parents and I were sick for 2 weeks. Not sick enough to go to the hospital, but sick enough to be concerned. Though we didn’t get tested at that time, we all experienced many of the COVID symptoms. No taste or smell, fever, chills, cough, extreme fatigue, sneezing, and stomach aches. Our symptoms thankfully were rather mild and none of us required hospitalization.

It seems like the nicer weather has caused people to forget that we’re still in the midst of a global pandemic. And it’s clear to me that we’re not out of the woods yet. Flu season is right around the corner. Children are being sent back to school. And new COVID cases are on the rise.

That being said, I’ve given some PASSIVE thought to a domestic trip later this year if cases get under control.

You all know I absolutely love to travel. I’ll advocate for it until my last day on Earth. But I’ve had to put that on the back burner this year. And I’m fine with that. Because safety always comes first.

I do have some other exciting projects I’ve been working on. So keep your eyes peeled for some announcements soon.

Until next time.

Cheers!
