Traveling while maintaining my 9 to 5

Life Lately: Hitting Pause (But Maybe Not Stop)

In 2018, I started this website as a digital diary to record all my travels. I know I didn’t need to buy a domain name just to do that, nor did I need to share the details of my trips publicly—but I guess I can blame that on being a stereotypical oversharing millennial.

All jokes aside, my goal here was never to become some big-time travel influencer who gets free hotel stays or invited on brand trips (although that would be nice). I just wanted a convenient way to tell family and friends about my international adventures—and honestly, I just enjoyed writing about them.

But over the last few years, life has changed. I’ve settled down, purchased my first home, gotten married, and started a family. These days, I barely travel. And even though I miss taking two or three big trips a year, my life isn’t as simple as it was back then.

Sure, I could still jet set—I know plenty of families who do—but at its core, this site was never about traveling as much as possible. It was about taking meaningful trips on a reasonable budget while maintaining a “normal” working-class life.

Now, I find myself wondering if it’s even worth keeping this website going. I still love to travel, but it’s hard to maintain a travel blog with little to no trips planned. My husband suggested turning it into a mommy blog, and that was an immediate no from me.

So here I am, with about two months to decide what’s next. Maybe this site will evolve into something new, or maybe it’ll stay exactly as it is—a little time capsule of a chapter in my life that I’ll always treasure. Where maybe my kid can see it one day and say “wow mom saw the world”. Either way, I’m grateful for everyone who’s followed along all these years.

No promises—but maybe this is my way of saying I’m not done writing yet. Just not sure what comes next.

  1. Life comes at you fast! Keep enjoying all the chapters as they unfold, and I look forward to seeing what’s next for your blog. Like you, I’ve married, bought a house and settled down in the 9 years since I started my blog. It helps that my husband has the same taste of adventure as I do but I can see us slowing down when we start a family in the next few years. So, cheers to blog evolution as we grow and unlock new life chapters!
