In the wake of this heatwave on the East coast, I’m reminded our next trip is only a few days away.

The title gives it away, but our anniversary trip this year is to The Bahamas! We’re blessed to keep this travel tradition for the 3rd year in a row.
It was my turn to choose our destination. And while the initial plan was to go to Costa Rica, my hesitation caused me to pivot and select another destination.
A few months back I saw an incredible flight deal to San José, Costa Rica. Round trip from JFK for $205. I had to check with Ray because the dates were a little earlier than we initially planned to travel. But he told me to book it. Unfortunately I hesitated because I wasn’t fully settled on going there and planning out a trip of that caliber. So by the time I went to book it just a few hours later the price increased significantly.
This was a rookie mistake. When you see a cheap flight you have to act immediately. That price will only last for a very short period of time.
Knowing that June is an expensive time to travel anywhere, I should’ve jumped at that price. Nevertheless I was on the hunt again for another flight deal. A week or so later I found a flight to Nassau, Bahamas for $250. I didn’t hesitate that time. Considering we paid $400 each for Aruba last year, we were pleased with this price.
Where We’re Staying
After a good amount of research we booked our stay at a historic 4 star hotel, recently refurbished/renovated and centrally located to popular beaches and downtown Nassau. It’s also a sister hotel of 2 other resorts. Which means we can freely flow between the 3 properties.
I was certainly tempted to book our accommodations at Atlantis Paradise Island, arguably the most popular resort in The Bahamas. But after researching, I couldn’t justify the exorbitant price. We’re buying a day pass there instead.
It’s worth mentioning I nearly booked an Airbnb. Which would’ve been my first time ever doing so. The prices were very reasonable compared to the hotels. And there are many videos recommending staying at an Airbnb instead of a hotel. But ultimately I felt more comfortable going with what I knew.
What We’re Doing
This is our 3rd trip to the Caribbean, but there are still typical Caribbean vacation activities that we haven’t done yet.
Water sports is one. Ray specifically requested we going jet skiing this year. And I MUST go parasailing this time. I’m open to taking a snorkeling day trip, but I’m still trying to convince Ray.
As is customary for our anniversary trips, we’ll have a spa day, a photo shoot and go on a sunset dinner cruise.
And of course, spend plenty of time on the beach and in the ocean.

Ray has been super excited about this trip for the last month. It’s only hitting me today that we’re leaving next week. So I’m in vacation prep mode. But I’m nonetheless excited for this much needed vacation in paradise with my honey.
Talk to you soon from The Bahamas!
Cheers!
